At the end of October, Honor officially presented MagicOS 9.0, the update of its software overlay based on Android 15. At the same time, the manufacturer offered owners of a Magic 6 Pro or a Magic V2 to participate in a closed beta for test this new version before everyone else.
Good news, a much larger number of users will be able to benefit from MagicOS 9.0 very soon. Honor plans to open the floodgates by this time launching a public beta from November 13, 2024. Everyone will therefore be able to access it, all they need is a compatible smartphone.
An open beta to test MagicOS 9.0
Here is the list of supported devices for this first open beta:
- Honor Magic V3
- Honor Magic Vs3
- Honor Magic V2
- Honor Magic V2 Ultimate Edition
- Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design
- Honor Magic 6
- Honor Magic 6 Pro
- Honor Magic 6 Ultimate
- Honor Magic 6 RSR Porsche Design
- Honor Magic 5
- Honor Magic 5 Pro
- Honor Magic 5 Ultimate
All these models will therefore be eligible for the public beta from November 13, and will therefore first receive the stable version of MagicOS 9.0 when it is ready, probably in early 2025. If you have already installed a version available during the closed beta, you will automatically receive open beta versions via OTA update. Otherwise, you need to sign up for the Honor beta program, all the information is available on this page.
For owners of a Magic 4 or an Honor 200, you will have to be a little more patient. A closed beta is planned for November 8 on these devices and we have no information on when the open beta will open.
With MagicOS 9.0, Honor follows the current trend by integrating numerous artificial intelligence features. These are based on MagicLM, the brand’s in-house language model. It powers the Yoyo voice assistant, as well as the AI Gallery and the AI Eraser for image editing and retouching. Magic Lock Screen and Magic Style will offer deeper customization, while Honor promises applications that load faster and better controlled energy consumption.
