MADRID, 6 Nov. (Portaltic/EP) –
Sony has announced that it will end sales of the Airpeak S1 drone at the end of March 2025, a decision made due to “recent changes in the business environment”, although it will maintain support for five more years.
Airpeak is the brand that brings together an aircraft and different accessories designed for video creators and the entertainment industry, which the technology company announced in November 2020, and which began to be marketed a few months later, for around $9,000.
The Airpeak S1 drone consists of a four-propeller system with a mount on the bottom to house an Alpha camera, to capture high-quality images, and two supports on the sides that retract during flight. It also uses imaging and sensing technology, as well as 3R (Reality, Real Time and Remote) technologies.
This drone will stop selling on March 31, 2025, as Sony has reported on the Japanese page for this product. “Due to recent changes in the business environment, Airpeak S1 and related products will be discontinued at the end of March 2025, except for some accessories,” it reports.
Technical support, which includes periodic inspection, repair and maintenance of software, will be maintained until March 31, 2030, as detailed in the roadmap.
