Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise Ltd (ACRE Africa), a subsidiary of ZEP-RE is a for-profit social enterprise and designer of risk management solutions for farmers with operations in Africa since 2009. Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise Ltd. (ACRE Africa) is a risk management solutions designer linking stakeholders to localized solutions such as insurance and climate change adaptation strategies to reduce agricultural and climate risks. ACRE Africa is a licensed insurance intermediary supporting local insurers to offer agricultural insurance across value chains with offices in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia and projects in Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Somalia. As a for-profit social business company pursuing financial sustainability and social impact, ACRE endeavours to work sustainably through its partnerships to continuously bridge this protection gap for farmers in Africa.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly and manage accounts payable and receivable.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets and financial forecasts, generate financial statements and reports for management review.
Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions, ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly and maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations, including corporate income tax (CIT), VAT, withholding tax (WHT), and payroll taxes and preparing and filing tax returns and related documentation
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Help in implementing and maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial regulations.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded, update accounts payable and receivables receivable and issue invoices and reconciliations.
Administrative Duties:
Provide general administrative support to the finance department, including scheduling meetings and maintaining financial files and assist with audits and other financial reviews as required.Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations, including corporate taxes (CIT, VAT, WHT) and payroll taxes.
COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES
Proficiency in financial software and MS Office (especially Excel).
Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
