Another recital of anachronism was added to his repertoire by the teacher and president of Niki during the discussion of the Topical Question he had submitted to the Minister of Education entitled: “Repeal of sexual education in schools”.
Dimitris Natsios presented the parents as “deeply worried” about the specific school program, which “promotes the woke agenda” and “introduces children in an unscientific way into the world of sexuality”, as it “destroys their innocence and makes them wicked”.
He indirectly supported the teacher who distributed homophobic material to high school students in Lavrio, while he called on the one hand for the support of the “sacred institution of the family” based on “Greek Orthodox values” and on the other hand for the abolition of the sex education program.
“Hate speech is what sends the primordial plague to the Greek family. It is hate speech to sexualize children from elementary school. “It’s hate speech to read drag queen fairy tales to children,” he concluded.
“You distort and misinform”
On the contrary, the Deputy Minister of Education, Zetta Makri, initially pointed out that she recognizes the parents’ concerns, underlining that children’s innocence is protected through “intersex education”, with the specific term recognized by the Greek Church.
“We are popularizing when we say that we are hurting the children” he objected and added that through the specific program the students “gain the ability to recognize the dangers and ask for help”, judging that ignorance in such cases is not helpful.
In her rebuttal, Mrs. Makri accused Mr. Natsios of intentionally confusing elements from recommendations that may be made to the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), but are not taught in educational units.
“You are distorting and misinforming,” he emphasized, repeating that “intersex education, as the Greek Church says, provides children with the appropriate tools to manage emotional relationships and make safe choices.”
