1961
The first increase
In 1961, the first chairlifts connected Bourg Saint Maurice to the Pierre Blanche plateau, the future site of Arc 1600. The following year, several ski lifts (Biolley, Deux Têtes and Signal) equipped the beginning of the ski area.
1964
Merger for a large project
In 1964, the towns of Bourg Saint Maurice and Hauteville-Gondon merged. Roger Godino, the future promoter of Les Arcs, has signed an agreement. Bourg Saint Maurice provides its financial guarantee and Hauteville-Gondon surrenders its land for the project.
1968
1600 arc opening
With the opening of Les Trois Arcs hotel in 1968, Arc 1600 welcomed its first visitors. This real architectural laboratory, designed by Charlotte Perriand and a collection of architects, becoming a model for future station sites.
1974
Arc Opening 1800
According to Arc 1600, Arc 1800 is suitable for both seasons (winter/summer). The cable car connecting Bourg Saint Maurice to Arc 1600 was created, and a funicular was installed in its place in 1989. In 1975, the Hôtel du Golf, which at that time was the most more in the Alps, to establish.

Opening arc 2000

Developed by Robert Jerome for Intrawest, this project combines traditional modern architecture, using slate, stone and wood roofs, creating a rustic and sophisticated feel, which is completely integrated into the ski area.
2006
heritage emblem of the 20th century
In 2006, Les Arcs received the heritage emblem of the 20th centuryrewarding the urban design and architecture of Arc 1600, Arc 1800, and the Aiguille Rouge cable car stations, proving modernity and harmony with nature.
