/ world today news/ “Judicial “reform” will lead to a delay in justice”. This was stated by the leader of the socialists, Mikhail Mikov, in the Nova TV studio.
He believes that with the proposed changes in the system, there is no guarantee that judges and magistrates will become more respectable, the process will be faster, and that corruption in the judiciary will decrease.
“Let it be clear that behind the judicial “reform” there are political interests to control the judicial system. There are enough signs that political control of the Supreme Judicial Council will be confirmed in the direction of the current rulers. That’s why we will not support the changes in the Constitution”, said Mikhail Mikov categorically. He also recalled that the parliamentary quota in the SJC was broadcast by GERB in their previous administration, and now an attempt is being made to find a place for representatives of their coalition partners.
According to Mikov, the rule of law should not only be a commitment of the judiciary, but also of the executive and the legislature. “I emphasize this because a few days ago in the National Assembly we had to vote on a secret agreement with the International Criminal Court, which was not even submitted to the parliament, and at the same time, the people’s representatives, who have not even read it, are asked to vote for it. And then we receive reprimands when we state that because of such cases, our country cannot be called legal,” the BSP chairman pointed out.
Mikov emphasized that the NA cannot function in this way and gave another example – with the FACTA agreement, according to which Bulgaria will provide information to the USA about accounts of American citizens in our country. However, the document does not foresee such an obligation for the American authorities, and they will not give the Bulgarians data on the accounts of Bulgarian citizens in American banks.
“When a government acts like this, it should be asked to resign.” You can see what is happening in health care, in internal affairs as well. Let’s not forget what is happening in Garmen”, stated the chairman of the BSP.
A left-wing alternative in the pension reform
Mihail Mikov commented on another “reform” of the right-wing government – the pension one, presenting the left-wing alternative to the model imposed by the rulers or “fewer pensioners, less expenses”.
