Mexico City. The Technical Evaluation Committee was installed in the Senate that will select the candidates who will reach the election of judges, magistrates and ministers in June of next year.
The members of this body protested at an event in which only the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, and the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, were present.
They promised to carry out work in accordance with the law and to ensure that the suitable profiles arrive at the elections. They also stated that their objective will be to give life to a new judicial power that allows prompt, impartial and fair administration of justice.
They promised not to fail and not to disappoint trust because they said they wanted a different judiciary, one that thinks about Mexicans. They also committed that merit will be the main attribute that the selected people will have.
The members of the evaluation committee said that they will act with three characteristics: scrupulously, transparently and with accountability to society.
The president of the Senate pointed out that the committee will meet in the old headquarters of the upper house and will be given all the support it requires to carry out its work. He pointed out that the members of this body will work without receiving a salary.
