“Draconian” are the security measures in view of tomorrow’s (5/11/2024) presidential elections in the USA with the authorities having deployed Drones, panic buttons and snipers as a result of which the entire country resembles a war scene. At the same time, Washington and the White House are fortified, having been turned into a fortress in fear of a new “Capitol” and violent unrest.
Minister in bulletproof vest in Arizona
The tense atmosphere that prevails is confirmed by the statement of the Secretary of State of Arizona, that he is wearing a bulletproof vest. Maricopa County, where most of Arizona’s voters live, is under tight control.
Polling stations resemble a “war zone” as they are now fortified with bulletproof glass, steel doors and cameras. The vote registration building in downtown Phoenix is protected like a fortress, while drone surveillance is a “one way” for the authorities. It is noted that Maricopa County in the state of Arizona was the stronghold of the efforts of Trump and his supporters after the 2020 election to stop the counting of votes.
At the same time, Maricopa County Sheriff Russ Skinner has deployed 200 officers who will be at the polls 24 hours a day monitoring the polls. At the same time, other states, such as Nevada and Washington, have been placed under strict control by the National Guard for fear of violent incidents. In North Carolina, they devised special training courses for police officers to respond sensitively to emergencies at polling stations.
Panic buttons on lanyards for election officials
Electoral officials must also be in a fighting position. Some counties have distributed panic buttons, which the election official should place on their lanyards. Others have bought special suits against any contamination and Narcan — an opioid overdose antidote — in case any suspicious powder arrives in the mail, as it has in the past.
In fact, on October 28, 2024, in the state of Washington and Oregon the ballot boxes were burned leading to the destruction of several hundred ballots. In San Antonio, an election agent was punched in the face for asking a voter to remove a hat depicting Trump, as US law prohibits political slogans inside polling stations.
Trump supporters targeted
According to analysts, the biggest threat is Trump’s supporters. After all, in the past the “Trumpists” had proven that they are ready for anything, when frustrated and enraged they stormed the Capitol in January 2021, causing absolute chaos. Of course, the invasion was preceded by extensive statements by Trump about fraud in the 2020 election. In this way, he brought thousands of supporters to the streets under the slogan “Stop the theft.” Notably, Trump has not pledged to accept the outcome of this year’s presidential election.
Concern in France about possible incidents.
“I hope that (the elections) will be held in a peaceful way, which does not seem absolutely guaranteed to me,” said French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barot to BFM TV, thus expressing his disbelief in the smooth conduct of the American elections. At the same time, he pointed out that France will cooperate with whoever wins the American elections
