Second PAE public table to improve student nutrition

The Departmental Education Secretariat of La Guajira began the Second Public Table of the School Feeding Program (PAE) in the municipality of Dibulla, bringing together leaders and key actors in the education sector to analyze the progress and challenges of this program. The meeting sought to generate proposals for improvement to guarantee that more students receive quality food.

Through this table, the program reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the well-being of the department’s students, especially in rural and indigenous areas. To date, the PAE has benefited more than 83 mil children and adolescents in La Guajira, delivering more than 12 thousand portions, which contributes to students having adequate nutrition that favors their development.

The day, led by Carlos Andrés Duarte OspinoSecretary of Departmental Education, and Viviana Sierra, responsible for the PAE, was attended by representatives of the twelve non-certified municipalities of the department, such as Dibulla, Manaure, Albania, Hatonuevoand others. Operators who provide food services in areas with difficult access also participated, as well as members of the World Food Program (WFP), which enriched the discussion and allowed us to learn more about the experiences.

During the table, the program’s achievements so far this year were presented, as well as the challenges to be resolved. Participants shared good practices and proposed measures that can be implemented in 2025 to improve the operation of the PAE. These spaces for dialogue and construction are essential to ensure that the program continues to strengthen and adapt under the guidelines of the Ministry of National Education and the Food to Learn Unit (Uapa).

The departmental Secretariat of Education highlighted the importance of these meetings to coordinate efforts between the local government, operators and educational representatives, in order to ensure that the feeding program reaches all students who need it, thus strengthening the right to education and nutrition of Guajiro children and youth.
