The audience sat on comfortable sofas in the hall and enjoyed an entertaining comedy. On stage, the protagonists also lounged on a sofa, first the well-off, then the socially disadvantaged. But now the story from the beginning: A former prisoner, Peter Baumann, lives in poor social and financial circumstances. He meets a well-off woman and her husband: Monika and Martin Kaufmann. The two’s social conscience leads them to be a “bit” social. So Peter and a few days later his partner Marieluise settled in the Kaufmanns’ terraced house and lived at their expense. The situation gets worse, reaches a point where there seems to be no solution… but in the end everyone benefits, even if perhaps differently than expected.
A kiosk woman acts as the narrator. She observes the protagonists, speculates and analyzes their behavior. Anything that does not correspond to the form, to the everyday, is suspect. With a lot of humor and situational comedy, she sells and gives away goods from her mobile kiosk and thus creates closeness to the audience.
A Plan B comedy
The reformed parish of Kirchberg offers a workshop for young people interested in theater. For ten months they practice a dialect play once a week and on a weekend. In three performances they demonstrate their abilities as amateur actors.
But these young people are getting older and many continue to enjoy theater. That’s why they, as Theater Plan B, rehearsed “Numerous and social”. Alexa Thiesmeyer’s comedy was translated into dialect by Christina Lüthi-Laubscher. Further performances in the Sofa Theater in Hindelbank will take place on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 8 p.m.
