We will put an end to the vicious practices in this mine –

/ world today news/ We will put an end to the vicious practices in this mine, the Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev categorically stated at the Oranovo mine. After the accident this morning, in which a worker died after a heart attack while working there, he left urgently for the Simitli mine.

The tragedy reveals two extremely important trends, which I will put an end to. These are the concessionaire‘s absolute non-compliance with the rules and the administration’s criminal abdication of its duties as a controller, Stoynev said, adding that the concessionaire worked without an approved work plan for 2013, and the administration knew this and turned a blind eye. In addition, salaries were not paid for the second half of 2011 and the whole of 2012. The previous minister and the administration should have stopped the concession until the salaries were paid, Minister Stoinev also said.

Representatives from the Labor Inspectorate and the National Labor Inspectorate will conduct another inspection after the incident with Asen Grncharov today. The results of the autopsy of the deceased are also awaited.

Dragomir Stoynev summarized that there are many gaps in the regulations for the mining industry and that working groups from the Ministry of Economy and Energy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and experts from the University of Mining and Geology will propose amendments and additions to the current regulations for mine-rescue and gas-rescue activities, regulations on labor safety in the development of deposits in an open manner and regulations on safety in underground and coal mines. Approval of regulations on safe and healthy working conditions is also pending.

Meanwhile, the rescue operation continues in search of the two buried miners.
