Request for Proposal (RFP): Event Organizer for Private Partnership and Promote PEPFAR’s 20-Year Legacy of Support – Thailand

FHI 360 Launches RFP to Boost Funding for HIV Services in Thailand

In a significant move to enhance the sustainability of community-based organizations (CBOs) engaged in HIV response efforts, FHI 360 has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) aimed at diversifying funding sources for CBOs in Thailand. This initiative comes under the umbrella of the USAID and PEPFAR-funded EpiC Project, a program dedicated to meeting the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals and improving healthcare access for key populations, particularly Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgender Women (TGW).

Driving Social Impact in HIV Care

EpiC Thailand has been instrumental in bridging gaps in HIV prevention, care, and treatment. The project recognizes the essential role CBOs play beyond HIV/AIDS initiatives, encompassing broader social impact activities that advocate for human rights, gender equality, and social justice. This RFP will encourage the establishment of social enterprises, enabling CBOs to generate income through social business ventures.

"We believe that empowering CBOs with diverse funding sources is crucial for sustaining their impactful work in communities," said a representative from FHI 360. "By engaging the private sector, we can forge partnerships that not only bolster financial independence but also generate lasting social benefits."

Objectives and Scope of the RFP

The RFP seeks to find a consultant who can accomplish several key tasks, including:

  • Promoting PEPFAR’s 20-Year Legacy: Highlighting the valuable contributions of PEPFAR in empowering CBOs while addressing HIV/AIDS challenges over the last two decades.

  • Showcasing CBO Initiatives Beyond HIV: Illustrating the broader roles of CBOs in human rights, youth development, and social equity, which could attract private sector interest.

  • Building Private Sector Relationships: Creating synergies between CBOs and businesses that recognize the potential for co-creation and shared value.

Notably, the culmination of these efforts will be a networking workshop during the upcoming World AIDS Day in 2024. This event will facilitate meaningful connections between CBO representatives and private sector stakeholders, providing a platform for collaboration.

Pre-Event and Onsite Responsibilities

The selected event organizer will handle critical logistics, including:

  • Venue Management: Secure an accessible venue for around 150 attendees, accommodating necessary audiovisual equipment.

  • Agenda Development: Collaborating with FHI 360 to finalize a program with speakers and panelists.

  • Participant Management: Inviting appropriate CBOs and private sector representatives while managing RSVPs.

  • Post-Event PR and Documentation: Creating a post-event press release summarizing outcomes and attendee feedback to reinforce the significance of these partnerships.

Qualifications and Evaluation Criteria

Organizations interested in applying for the RFP should possess:

  • Proven experience organizing events for NGOs or in the development sector.
  • Familiarity with private sector engagement related to CBOs and sustainable development.
  • Strong media and public relations strategies for pre- and post-event coverage.

The evaluation process will focus on relevant experience, project management capabilities, media outreach proficiency, and a detailed budget proposal aimed at cost-effectiveness.
