Tunis: Italian courses of the Thamm Plus program begin

(ANSA) – TUNIS, 04 NOV – The Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Elvira Calderone, together with her Tunisian counterpart Riadh Chaoued, inaugurated the first training course in Italian language and culture at the Ibn Sina training centre, as part of the Thamm Plus program. This was announced by the Tap news agency, recalling that this training, the first of its kind, is part of the Thamm Plus program: “Towards a holistic approach to the governance of labor migration and labor mobility in Italy and North Africa”, a sub-regional program coordinated by IOM, aimed at offering mutually beneficial opportunities for safe and regular migration and labor mobility to 2,000 young Tunisians who will work in the private building and construction sector in Italy . Thamm plus program manager Meriem Soussi said that this program, financed by the European Union and the Italian Ministry of the Interior, aims to strengthen and improve regular migration channels and train 2,000 young Tunisians in the construction sector in Italy in the private sector . The program will end in December 2026. For his part, the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Riadh Chaoud, underlined the importance of Tunisian-Italian cooperation in the field of employment, professional training and regular migration of workers through the launch of various initiatives and programs. Among these, the program to support the training of young Tunisians, implemented in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Aics) in 14 governorates (Jendouba, Beja, Siliana, Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, Kebili, Monastir, Mahdia, Sfax, Tozeur, Medenine and Greater Tunis). Speaking at the opening of the Tunisian-Italian Forum on Professional Skills and Employment, he added that the training session in Italian language and culture focuses on many young Tunisians in the construction sector. The Tunisian government is working within the framework of the Future Plan 2035 to reduce the unemployment rate among young people and women, especially those with higher qualifications, by developing and making greater use of their potential and adapting it to changes in the international labor market, has added.
