Mexico City. The judges Juan José Olvera López, Julia María del Carmen García and Juan Carlos Ramírez Benítez, demanded on behalf of the justice providers, that the federal authorities present evidence of the acts of corruption that are committed in the federal courts, after The Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) indicated that in 2023 there were no irregularities in the management of the resources assigned to the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF), “since there is no evidence of these alleged widespread corruption.”
During the so-called conference of judges, the federal justice officials pointed out that the Executive Branch has supposedly indicated that there is no way to supervise the management of the assigned budget, however, the ASF has been an independent body that has audited the management and destination of resources.
“The truth is that they were general statements, no precise data were given, no specific cases were pointed out that demonstrated this widespread corruption, as if every day in the courts of the Federation acts of corruption were being carried out, as if in each work carried out by the Judiciary, resources were being diverted on a daily basis,” said Olvera López.
However, he pointed out that yesterday the ASF “reports that for the year 2023 there was no irregularity in public spending; there was no sign of diversion of resources or misuse of them in the Federal justice administration service. He certainly pointed out some irregularities, but he also highlighted that they were resolved towards the end of the process, so that by 2023 there were no irregularities in the use of public resources in the PJF.”
The magistrates stated that this demonstrates that the PJF “uses public resources in a public and transparent manner and is accountable to an external body.”
Thus, they indicated “there is no evidence, there is no evidence of this alleged widespread corruption that is talked about over and over again,” which is why they indicated that they would like to know “how many matters were reported by the Federal Executive, could the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) ), give us a report of how many matters the courts have handled.”
Although, they indicated, “unfortunately, like all institutions, we are human, we are more than 1,600 judges and around 50,000 operators, and of course administrative mistakes can be made and those sanctions are sanctioned and accounted for, But from there to talk about corruption as a social scourge as criminal and widespread activity, there is no basis and it is only accusations without evidence. We ask again that if there are any, they show them because the people have the right to know the foundations. of any indication”.
