Some remember it for the young, beautiful Nastassja Kinski, others for the legendary music of Ry Cooder or for the sunny landscapes in which it is set… Paris, Texasone of the most beloved films of Wim Wenders, a 40 years from the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, he returns in Italian cinemasthanks to Cineteca di Bologna and his project Il Cinema Ritrovato. At the Cinema. Thursday 7 November at 9pm, the Gloria in via Varesina will screen it in the original language with subtitles
It is certainly the work that definitively consecrated the German director among the great authors of world cinema. The last film of Wenders’ American period, written by Sam Shepard, recalls a note, is a free, tender and desperate road movie, a homage to the places of the western, a very human reinterpretation of Hollywood genres.
An aging father under his baseball cap and his young son travel across Texas in a pickup truck, looking for a wife and mother lost years before. They talk about the big bang theory and why she left. Man, who had closed his faults and defeats in silence, rediscovers the word and the meaning of human relationships. He rediscovers them so well that when they finally find the woman, in a kind of sex club where the girls talk to customers through a glass, without seeing them, Harry Dean Stanton can break them and break our hearts by telling a story, which of course is their story. She is the Nastassja Kinski of 1984, and there is nothing else to say.
Indeed, by Emmanuel Carrère Paris Texas And “the calmest, most restrained film Wenders ever directed”
