Alexandre Ayache may have represented France in the dressage events during the Olympic Games, but he is today the victim of financial difficulties. The professional rider is based in the village of Lantosque, in the Vésubie valley, hit hard by storm Alex four years ago. Eighteen people died and 13,000 others were cut off from the world in violent floods. Alexandre Ayache tells on BFMTV being in conflict with its Axa insurance, which refuses to reimburse the damage while certain homes in the village threaten to collapse.
“We are still at the same stage”
Even if Axa was condemned by the courts, Alexandre Ayache is still paying for the work on the stables and the house himself while waiting for the dispute to be resolved, an investment of 350,000 euros. “ This is what allows the house just above to still be standing, but four years later, we are still at the same stage », Regrets the rider on BFMTV, who lives with his family in the damaged accommodation. Alexandre Ayache had to resolve to sell four of his competition horses to pay off his debts.
He fears separating from Jolène, his mare with whom he participated in the Olympic Games this summer. It could be worth several hundred thousand euros. The total repairs to the house and stables are estimated at one million euros.
