Summit in the prefecture on safety in healthcare facilities after the attack on the doctor at the Moscati hospital in Aversa.
The Prefect of Caserta, Lucia Volpe, chaired the coordination meeting at the Government Palace. During the meeting – which was attended by the Police Commissioner Andrea Grassi, the provincial Commander of the Carabinieri Manuel Scarso, the provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Nicola Sportelli and the General Directors of the Local Health Authority of Caserta, Amedeo Blasotti, and of the Hospital ” Sant’Anna and San Sebastiano”, Gaetano Gubitosa – an update of the survey started on the phenomenon last year was carried out.
In this regard, the representatives of the healthcare companies illustrated a series of initiatives and operational procedures promoted at the hospitals with the highest number of accesses – Caserta and Aversa – ensuring the further intensification of the measures already in place (video surveillance systems, armed private security, concierge services).
In particular, among the measures implemented: the differentiation of patient routes based on the color codes assigned upon arrival in the emergency room, with direct access to the competent departments for less serious cases (fast track); the implementation of structural interventions to guarantee the permanence of users and companions in separate and suitable environments, in order to improve the quality of the services provided; the activation of clinics – some already established in the municipalities of Aversa and Trentola Ducenta – for assistance to those who do not require hospitalization in the emergency room; the activation of a messaging service on mobile phones with the aim of informing family members and caregivers about the health status of waiting patients.
The possibility of providing the figure of a psychologist to provide the necessary support during the wait and involving volunteers from the Carabinieri and State Police Associations on leave to collaborate with the health facilities is also being studied.
Prefect Volpe, in demonstrating solidarity and closeness to the representatives of the healthcare sector and the entire staff, shared with the Police Force the need to support the initiatives described with an organization of services aimed at the needs represented by the company top management.
