In connection with the disturbing information published today by the Ministry of Environment and Water about low levels of useful water catchment in several dams intended for drinking and domestic needs, part of which are the dams “Kamchiya” and “Yasna Polyana”, the regional governor of the district Burgas Prof. Maria Neikova took measures to overcome future complications regarding the normal water supply of the population.
The MoEW’s basis for comparison are the levels of useful water catchment of the dams compared to the same period of previous years.
According to the Daily Bulletin on the State of Water, published on the website of the Ministry of Ecology, the “Kamchia” dam has a useful water catchment of about 21%, and “Yasna Polyana” – about 20%.
Prof. Maria Neikova urgently requested information as soon as possible from the water and sanitation operator in Burgas about the actions taken so far, as well as other planned actions and acts, to ensure the drinking water supply provided by the “Kamchia” dam and the “Yasna Polyana” dam , as well as information on the operational status of the alternative dams “Poroy” and “Aheloy”.
The Water and Sewerage – Burgas assured Prof. Neikova that there is no danger that the Burgas region will switch to a water supply regime in the next 6 months.
The facilities of the “Kamchia” and “Yasna Polyana” dams are operating normally.
The regional governor appeals to the population for responsible use of the water resource, using it only for drinking and household needs and not allowing the use of water for irrigation activities.
