Versailles: a film about near-death experiences in preview at Cyrano

It is a theme rarely treated on the big screen which will be presented this Tuesday evening at the Cyrano cinema in Versailles. The room unveils a preview of the film “Witnesses”, dedicated to near-death experiences. Director Sonia Barkallah, already author of the highly acclaimed “Faux-départ”, will be present to meet the public, on the eve of its official release.

The fruit of three years of work, this documentary film gives voice to dozens of people affected by a near-death experience. They all say they have experienced white light, the tunnel or decorporation phenomena.

“I wanted viewers to form their own opinion”

But the specialist goes further thanks to the testimonies of men or women who report having “seen” what was happening in the next room or with their loved ones while they were experiencing their NDE. Testimonies corroborated by nursing staff and which question the capacities of consciousness.

The film also gives voice to renowned scientists such as the Belgian neurologist Steven Laureys, who has become a world reference for his studies on consciousness, or the researcher Charlotte Martial. “Even if, on a personal level, I am convinced, I wanted viewers to form their own opinion,” confides Sonia Barkallah. And to find out if the perceptions experienced are real or not, I went to see the skeptical scientists to ask them what the indisputable proof would be in their eyes. I therefore proposed the establishment of a device which would allow an indisputable reading. »
