Hospital places bracelets to care for patients according to risk level | News

In a measure aimed at reinforcing the safety and quality of care, the Lima Este-Vitarte Hospital (HLEV) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has launched the implementation of two types of bracelets that will allow the risk level of each patient to be distinguished.

These badges, known as the Patient Identification Bracelet and the Risk Identification Bracelet, seek not only to optimize identification, but also to prevent risks associated with allergies and falls during the hospital stay.

The Patient Identification Bracelet, designed by the team at the Office of Statistics and Information Technology (OETI), contains the full first and last name, age, date of admission and a QR code that allows online access to the medical history. , facilitating a secure and accurate flow of information.

These bracelets comply with health certifications and regulations, ensuring continuous and reliable patient monitoring”explained Eng. Italo David Aguilar Hermosa, head of the OETI.

On the other hand, the Risk Identification Bracelet uses a color system to alert about specific situations: the red bracelet indicates allergies, while the yellow indicates a high risk of falling.

Graduate Norma Simón Quito, head of the Nursing Department, highlighted that this system makes it possible to prevent errors in clinical care, such as the administration of medications, surgical interventions and laboratory tests, contributing to a safe environment for the patient.

The implementation of these bracelets was made official in a ceremony presided over by the general director of the hospital, Dr. Elio Fitzgerald Rocafuerte Díaz, who placed the first bracelets in the Admission and Observation areas. This measure, aligned with the Minsa and the International Patient Safety Goals, positions HLEV at the forefront of innovation in the Health sector.

This action represents a significant advance in the hospital management policy and responds to the commitment to guarantee a care process focused on the safety and well-being of the user.“said Rocafuerte Díaz.

With the implementation of these bracelets, the HLEV reaffirms its and Minsa’s commitment to safety and quality in patient care, providing a safe and modern hospital environment that meets the current demands of the health system.
