Inail Center of Lamezia Terme, Fiori and Occhiuto in unison: “We will relaunch the structure”

Il Inail Center of Lamezia Terme “It has enormous potential, our goal is to relaunch it.” The director of Inail said it Marcello Fioriwhich he visited today, together with the President of the Region Roberto Occhiutoil Inail-Asp Catanzaro integrated rehabilitation center in Lamezia Terme: the rectors of the University of Catanzaro also participated in the visit, Giovanni Cudaand the University of Calabria, Nicola Leone.

«We reasoned together – Fiori began in a press conference at the end of the visit – on the relaunch of this structure which has a particularity: brings together prosthetic social and healthcare assistance, rehabilitation and research for patients who have unfortunately had an accident at work. Every accident at work is a tragedy and a drama, there is no acceptable number, as President Mattarella said, no one wins the challenge alone but we need an assumption of collective responsibility – businesses, institutions and unions – through prevention, information and training. For Inail – continued the director of the institute – the Lamezia Terme Center has enormous potential: the latest figure from September speaks of 1000 accesses, an undersized figure not in absolute terms but compared to the potential of this centre. Now together with the Region and the Universities – noted the director of Inail – we will develop a common action: the presence of the Universities is also fundamental because biomedical research, research on artificial intelligence, on mechanics is fundamental in this sector. We have a large synergistic development project in mind to make it a point of reference throughout Italy.”

In turn, the President of the Region thanked Fiori. «In his words – he said – I understood INAIL’s desire to invest in this Center to make it a center of national interest of importance also in the Mediterranean. A center that is currently underutilized compared to its potential and which deserves to be further developed, which is why I have ensured the maximum availability of the institutional context. Furthermore, the presence of the rectors is very important: I am proud – Occhiuto claimed – of the knowledge ecosystem represented by the universities of Calabria, which is a driving force for attracting investments and can be useful for Inail”.
