The Directorate of Global Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad organized, this Thursday, October 31, 2024, in the banquet hall of the said Ministry a Capacity Building Workshop for Ivorian Diplomats on Strategic and Geopolitical themes.
The seminar began with an opening ceremony marked by two speeches including that of His Excellency Mr. AHOUNAN Kodjane, Director of Global Issues, who identified the importance of this workshop which aims to strengthen the capacities of Ivorian Diplomats on the themes of current strategic and geopolitical order and to analyze the implications of contemporary crises and the global geopolitical recomposition on Africa and identify the main issues for the continent.
Following him, Mr. KANTE Kouassi Joachin, Director of Cabinet and representative of His Excellency Mr. Léon Kacou ADOM, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, in his address, indicated that this meeting is being held in a global context marked by complex geopolitical dynamics and strategic challenges, including international tensions, climate change and technological advances.
Faced with these new challenges that the whole world is called upon to face, Ivorian diplomats must arm themselves to enable them to better defend the interests of our country in the concert of nations.
After the opening ceremony, the work took place with three presentations made respectively by Professor DION Yodé Simplice, Associate Professor of Political and Moral Philosophy at the Félix Houphouet Boigny University of Cocody on: “Diplomacy in the era of Artificial Intelligence: Issues and Challenges”; then the second by Mr. KANVOLI Kakou, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Digital Transition and Digitization on the theme: “The Development of Information and Communication Technologies: Opportunity or Threat for Diplomacy” and finally the last by Doctor BANGA Arthur, Teacher-Researcher in International Relations who presented on: “Contemporary Crises and the Geopolitical Recomposition of the World: What are the challenges for Diplomacy? “.
These different presentations allowed participants to have a better understanding of the opportunities, threats and challenges linked to the development of ICT and in particular Artificial Intelligence. This meeting also allowed them to better understand contemporary crises and the geopolitical recomposition of the world as well as the main issues for Africa before making recommendations to enable Ivorian Diplomacy to better defend the strategic and geopolitical interests of our country.
