Copilot It is the maximum expression of the push that Microsoft is giving artificial intelligence functions to its software and hardware products, as well as its services. But this could change in the not-too-distant future, as alleged indications have been found that the company could copy Apple Intelligence‘s recipe to change its name.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft could rename Copilot as Windows Intelligence. This emerges from mentions of said nomenclature that appeared in the most recent builds de Windows 11.
References to Windows Intelligence were found in an ADML file with instructions for managing the operating system’s privacy permissions. There you can see that one of the fragments indicates Let Apps Access Windows Intelligence; i.e.: “Allow applications to access Windows Intelligence.”
This has unleashed a wave of speculation linked to the possibility that Microsoft is exploring the possibility of changing the name of the suite of AI tools it currently offers as Copilot and adopting the name Windows Intelligence. Of course for now there is no official confirmation and those from Redmond have not commented publicly on the matter either.
Will Windows Intelligence be the successor to Microsoft Copilot?
The case already generates quite a bit of curiosity, especially due to the logical similarity between Apple Intelligence and the supposed next name of Microsoft Copilot. However, it is not the first time that the reference to Windows Intelligence says it is present in Windows 11. In fact, Microsoft uses that name since long before that Apple announced its artificial intelligence suite for the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
At least since 2022, Windows 11 users have encountered references to Windows Intelligence on several occasions in the security updates of the operating system. What is striking is that no details are provided about what these patches include, and the information on the web is practically nil.

But formal answers are scarce or do not exist at all. In some cases it is indicated that this name could be used to refer to the changes made to the components of Windows Security and in Windows Defenderbut there is no complete certainty about it.
This being the case, it is impossible to assume that Microsoft is about to rename Copilot as Windows Intelligence. However, It wouldn’t be strange if that were the case.. After all, Redmond’s AI chatbot debuted as Bing Chat and later evolved into Copilot. But that name has expanded to many more Windows AI features and other services the corporation offers—both consumer and enterprise—making it a bit confusing to differentiate between them.
Will Windows Intelligence be the next name for Microsoft Copilot? For now it is impossible to guarantee it. Let’s remember that weeks ago the company gave the chatbot of the same name a major facelift, and added voice and vision tools. We will continue to pay attention to the news.
