The information desk on Advance Treatment Arrangements (DAT) will be active from Wednesday 6 November on the initiative of the Arezzo District Area Management and the Palliative Care Functional Unit of Arezzo.
The desk will be open on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm in the ASL headquarters in via Curtatone 54, room 207 (second floor) and will be held by a palliative care doctor.
The service was created to offer citizens information on advance treatment provisions, also known as living wills or living wills and provide the possibility of expressing one’s consent or refusal on diagnostic tests or therapeutic treatments, in anticipation of a possible future inability to communicate one’s will.
Through the ASL office you will also be able to proceed with the appointment of a trustee, the modification or revocation of your provisions and you will be able to obtain information on how to register the DATs or fill them in directly on site.
DATs are regulated in Italy by art. 4 of law 219/17 and can be revoked or modified at any time.
To access the desk you must book by telephone by calling the District Area Secretariat number 0575-255824, from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00.
«The ASL help desk service is an additional tool that will complement the current possibility of acquiring information directly from your general practitioner – explains Doctor Giulio Corsi, head of the palliative care functional unit of the Arezzo provincial area – The Activation of the help desk therefore represents a further and valuable service to be able to freely and consciously express one’s healthcare choices”.
«Freedom of choice is an act of civilization and it is essential that people have tools to best support this path in the healthcare sector – underlines the director of the District Area, Alfredo Notargiacomo – the information desk for advance treatment orders is an important service for protecting one’s quality of life and self-determination”.
