/ world today news/ Bulgaria does not export and does not allow arms to be exported from its territory to Syria.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy Bozhidar Lukarski to Darik Radio. This is how he responded to the information circulated this week by the Reuters agency that the three arms suppliers to the US government, which suffered from an explosion at the test site in Anevo, had tested weapons for delivery to the Syrian opposition fighting against the Islamic State. One of the Americans died in the June 6 incident and two others were injured. Bulgarians were also injured in the explosion.
Syria is on the UN arms export ban list. “We do not issue permits for end users in Syria. How this kind of weaponry from Bulgaria gets into Syria is the responsibility of the official American authorities, because we export weapons, including Russian ones, to America,” Lukarski said. He also refuted the information that a test was carried out at the training ground in Anevo: “It is not about a test, but about the training of specialists. It is not a test of a weapon, because it is about RPGs, which have been used since the time of the Warsaw Pact contract. This is a Russian armament. To say that it is a test is like saying that the bicycle factory in Lovech suddenly decides to do experiments and tests on the “Balkan” bikes that we all remember from our childhood. , Lukarski pointed out.
Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev also explained to Radio K2 that his inspection did not show that in the case of Anevo, the export of arms to any country was being prepared. “It is about private relations, a private American company that tests weapons and tries to prepare their specialists to handle such weapons and possibly train others,” said Nenchev.
Workers are released in Iganovo
The workers of VMZ-Sopot from the site in the village of Iganovo start work from Monday. This was decided at a meeting of the board of directors at the Ministry of Economy, the unions reported to the enterprise. Work in Iganovo was stopped in March after the explosion in the so-called Dutch warehouse. A month later, a similar incident occurred in one of the production workshops, and luckily no one was injured. Prosecutors are still investigating both incidents. The production process in Iganovo will be gradually restored until the end of next week. About 250 gunsmiths, who have already passed the mandatory stress tests, will initially work in three of the workshops. The restructuring of the production base, which was damaged in the second explosion, is still being completed.
