Myung Tae-gyun (54), a key figure in the suspicions of President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife’s involvement in the nomination, claimed on the 4th that the recording of the meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife no longer exists.
Mr. Myung posted on his social networking service (SNS) Facebook this morning, “The Democratic Party has no additional recordings of the president and first lady. “Do not defraud the people,” he wrote.
On the 31st of last month, the Democratic Party of Korea released a recording of a phone call between President Yoon and Mr. Myeong. In the recording file, there is a part where President Yoon says, “Please give Kim Young-sun (nomination).” According to the Democratic Party, the call was made on May 9, 2022, ahead of the by-election in June 2022. It is the day before the president’s inauguration (May 10, 2022), when he is the president-elect. About a month later, on June 15th, when Mr. Myung played a recording of his phone call with President Yoon on his cell phone, a third party recorded it on the spot.
The Democratic Party also released additional recordings related to Myeong on the 3rd. On this day, the Democratic Party released a voice recording of Myung saying he was talking on the phone with President Yoon.
In the file released by the Democratic Party, Myung said, “I still talk to the president on the phone. “The president doesn’t answer (phone calls) from people who don’t do that,” he said. In this file, Mr. Myeong also said, “And Madam Kim Geon-hee normally has three phones. There is a separate secret phone number. “It’s time to do it in a hurry,” he said. It has not been confirmed whether Myung’s remarks in the phone call were true.
Mr. Myeong did not mention the circumstances surrounding the post on Facebook that day.
In response to Myung’s article, the Democratic Party refuted this day, saying, “I have never committed fraud.”
On this day, Democratic Party floor spokesperson Noh Jong-myeon appeared on MBC radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus’ and was asked, “Did you see the post that Mr. Myung posted on his Facebook at 7:30 this morning?” and responded, “Pay attention to the part where it says the subject is the Democratic Party. “It is possible,” he said, adding, “Mr. Myung said that there were two presidential recordings (call recording files).” He continued, “I’m not sure if this means that the Democratic Party is not receiving support right now, or that as far as he knows, there is nothing else that exists in the world.” At the same time, he claimed, “The Democratic Party has never defrauded the people,” and added, “The analysis of the reports in the form of recordings that have been and are still coming to the Democratic Party has not been completed.”
Park Seong-joon, senior deputy floor leader of the Democratic Party, also appeared on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’ and said, “I understand that reports are coming in through people other than Kang Hye-kyung.”
