The race for the championship title in Formula 1 was marked by a dramatic turn in the rainy Brazilian Grand Prix, reports Dir.bg.
At the Interlagos circuit, fans saw an amazing race in which defending champion Max Verstappen started from 17th position and finished in front of everyone – his first win since June.
The big contender for the title, Lando Norris, was only sixth and practically gave up on his hopes of dethroning the Red Bull pilot. He lost 18 points to Max, with the gap between the two leaders widening to 62.
Max also received a wink from fate – the race was stopped after a crash at Colapinto. Norris, who had previously been running second, had pitted and returned to sixth. However, stopping the race allowed Verstappen to change his tires without having to waste time in the pits.
After the restart, he returned to second position, and by the end he was able to overtake Esteban Ocon. The Alpin driver finished second, with teammate Pierre Gasly third.
The competition will also be remembered for a curious moment. Even before the start of the race, on the warm-up lap, Lance Stroll lost control and crashed his car. After that, the pilots did not know how to line up at the start, which forced a 10-minute delay in the race.
Until the end of the season, there are 3 starts – in Las Vegas, Qatar and the UAE, but by all accounts it seems that the main question of the championship already has its answer.
