The community and tourists enjoyed a meeting where the traditions, products and natural beauty of an area with enormous potential were highlighted.
Neltume was the perfect natural setting to welcome spring in the forest with the eleventh version of the Forest Festival, an event held by the communities of the area, in conjunction with the Huilo Huilo Foundation, in the town’s municipal gym. .
The celebration generated a high attendance of neighbors and visitors, who enjoyed the children’s costume contest, the exhibition of thematic stands and products from the area and art such as music, dance and theater.
Among the highlights was the presentation of the theatrical and musical work “The mysterious world of Diatoms” that moved those present and was directed by the well-known actor Felipe Castro.
The meeting represented a meeting point between the community and visitors who come to this destination that is increasingly gaining strength in tourism for the Los Ríos Region.

For Rodolfo Cortés, director of the Huilo Huilo Foundation, they are happy to support an event that involves the community.
“This festival, organized by the communities themselves, represents their identity and highlights what is local heritage, which is cultural and natural. Also, the efforts we are making to conserve flora and fauna and promote a sustainable tourism hub in the area,” said Cortés.
Javier Young, general manager of Huilo Huilo, indicated that the festival highlights the wonder of the forest. “It has been tremendous work by the communities and the Foundation team and it was a success, with a large influx of visitors,” he said.
Felipe Castro, director of the play, “The mysterious world of Diatoms,” said that the festival was “a success by any measure.” “This is an activity that has been maintained over time. The Huilo Huilo Foundation has allowed the magic, spirit, and passion for this beautiful forest to be maintained. When activities are carried out for years, they become a tradition,” he pointed out.
Ivonne Reifschneider, president of the Huilo Huilo Foundation, highlighted that this festival managed to overcome the pandemic. “It seems incredible to me that the number of people we are seeing today was even greater than what came last year. This party would not be possible without the community and especially the children and young people,” he said.
Several tourists were impressed by the organization and staging of scenes whose main theme was the forest, flora and fauna of Neltume, Liquiñe, Puerto Fuy and the Huilo Huilo Reserve. Some announced that they will return yes or yes for next year just to be part of this party and, in the process, enjoy summer 2025, where the area appears as one of the favorites for visitors who will come to Los Ríos.
