Many launch problems occur, NASA Panel asks SpaceX to focus on Dragon crew mission safety

Jakarta – LocationX has faced three launch cases in the past four months. This issue came to NASA’s attention when the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) meeting was held on October 31.

A list of issues related to the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon spacecraft was discussed by Kent Rominger, a former astronaut who served on the NASA safety panel. According to him, these different problems must be used as a reminder.

Rominger asked SpaceX to be vigilant as the company faces more missions in the future, including the Crew Dragon mission in collaboration with NASA. The former astronaut asked SpaceX and NASA not to underestimate simple missions.

“Obviously safe work requires a lot of attention,” said Rominger, who was quoted from Space news. “Both NASA and SpaceX must remain focused on the safe operation of Crew Dragon and not take ‘normal’ operations for granted.

To carry out research missions on the International Space Station (ISS) safely, NASA and SpaceX must be more careful and focus on the essential details. Both must also provide the best resources to be able to solve problems appropriately.

“(NASA and SpaceX) must be careful that the high speed of the work does not cloud their judgment to ensure that there is the right level of attention to detail and that the right time and resources are allocated dedication to understanding the root of the problem,” said Rominger.

SpaceX is indeed busy this year due to the Starlink launch target and the development of the Starliner spacecraft. However, in the middle of this busyness, SpaceX has had three different problems and most of them happened with the Falcon 9.

Last July, the Falcon 9’s second stage failed to complete its second firing. Two months later, the upper stage of the Falcon 9 had problems again while carrying the Crew-9 mission. Fortunately, the problem occurred after the crew was brought into space.

The last problem happened last August when increase Falcon 9 is disappearing. First, the launch went smoothly and Starlink was successfully placed into orbit. Minute increase attempting to land, flames erupted from the base causing the car to overturn and disappear.
