The Attorney General’s Office dismissed and disqualified a teacher in Piñón, Magdalena, for alleged sexual acts

Through a first instance ruling, the Attorney General’s Office announced that it dismissed and disqualified for 12 years Álvaro Fidel Hurtado Garcés, a teacher at the Carreto Departmental Educational Institution, located in the municipality of El Piñón, Magdalena, for allegedly carrying out various sexual acts involving carnal access with minors under 14 years of age.

The control entity assured that it demonstrated that in the year 2022, the mathematics and physics teacher performed libidinous touching on a 13-year-old student who was in fifth grade “in order to satisfy her sexual desires.”

Likewise, in the statement the Attorney General’s Office pointed out that the disciplined person affected the public service of a specially protected population, since with his behavior he caused damage to the minor’s privacy and sexual integrity, not only physically but also on a psychological level, increasing insecurities, fears and frustrations.

The Public Ministry asserted that Hurtado Garcés “(…) was not only obliged to act with the decorum, professionalism and protective aptitude that his position entails, but also due to the special protection situation that protects minors,” but that had to “adjust to a higher standard” to safeguard the rights and prerogatives of its student as a woman.

After stating that the teacher investigated knew and knew that his mission is to provide students with the best moral, intellectual and physical training, the Attorney General’s Office described the offense as very serious as a matter of fraud and recalled that through the Promujeres strategy, it seeks to combat and eradicate generalized violence against women, children and adolescents.
