Borussia Dortmund is already complaining about ten injured players. Marcel Sabitzer may also be out.
After the liberation against RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund’s personnel concerns have become even greater. Midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who started the game already injured, had to leave the field in the 67th minute. This is not a good sign because Sabitzer is not a player who would allow himself to be replaced “if it somehow worked,” said coach Nuri Sahin: “But it didn’t work anymore, the muscle had completely closed down. We have to wait for the next few hours, the next few days.”
Even before the 2:1 (1:1) against RB, BVB had to complain about ten failures. Sabitzer, Ramy Bensebaini, Jamie Gittens and Felix Nmecha went into the game injured. “It wouldn’t surprise me if a few more joined now,” commented Sahin. Who can play in the Champions League against Sturm Graz on Tuesday (9 p.m./DAZN) will be decided at short notice.
“We’re on our toes, the boys and I need a short break,” said Sahin on ZDF. After the duel against the Austrian team Graz, the Bundesliga goes to FSV Mainz 05 (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky) before the international break.
Captain Emre Can, who had to help out in the defense center in the absence of the injured central defender Waldemar Anton and Niklas Süle, praised the team for the strong performance against Leipzig. “Hello,” he said on Sky: “The results and the injuries of the last few weeks are our fate, we have to fight against them. We can’t complain, let’s move on. We played a good game and deserved to win.”
