After the points record in the main round, soccer world champion Lionel Messi threatens to compete with Inter Miami North American MLS the surprising exit in the first playoff round.
The team from Florida lost the second game at Atlanta United 1:2 (1:0). This means the playoff will take place in Fort Lauderdale on November 10th. Miami won the first game 2-1. The winner advances to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

With veteran stars Messi, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba in the starting line-up, Miami initially took the lead through Hector David Martinez (40th) in front of 68,455 spectators. The Irishman Derrick Williams (58′) managed to equalize after the break, before Xande Silva (90’+4) finished off a strong move by the hosts deep in stoppage time with a powerful shot into the left corner. Messi had a few chances but couldn’t make the difference this time.

Messi’s team qualified for the playoffs as the best team in the main round of Major League Soccer (MLS). Before Inter, no club had ever scored 74 points.
