Jannik Sinner will enter the ATP Finals as world number 1 with 10,330 points under his belt (the ATP ranking and the Race will coincide on the eve of the event). This is the spoils that the Italian tennis player has guaranteed himself during the current season, the result largely of the two triumphs in the Slams (Australian Open and US Open, 2,000 points each), of the three seals in the Masters 1000 (Miami, Cincinnati, Shanghai) and the two successes in the ATP 500 (Rotterdam and Halle).
The South Tyrolean champion will be among the big favorites in the end-of-season tournament reserved for the best eight tennis players of the competitive year, scheduled on the hard courts of the Inalpi Arena in Turin from 10 to 17 November. The 23-year-old will take the field with a a decidedly important advantage over his closest pursuers in the ATP rankingeven if the margin has narrowed in the last week because German Alexander Zverev he won the Masters 1000 of Paris-Bercy.
The Teutonic rider has in fact confiscated the 1,000 points up for grabs on the concrete of the French capital and has reached 7,315 points in the Race, therefore 3,015 lengths behind our standard bearer. Zverev made the overtaking move to secure second place in the world rankings against the Spaniard Carlos Alcarazwho had been eliminated in the round of 16 and is now third with 6,810 points (therefore 3,520 points behind Sinner).
Russian Daniil Medvedev the American is stuck at 4,830 Taylor Fritz at 4,300, the Serbian Novak Djokovic at 3,910. The Norwegian Casper Ruud (3.855), the Australian Alex de Minaur (3.745) and the Russian Andrey Rublev (3.720) will play next week in the 250 in Belgrade and Metz, so the situation regarding sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth place is changing. In the ATP ranking the points from the 2023 Finals have obviously not yet been deducted, so Sinner stands out with 11,330 ahead of Zverev (7,715), Alcaraz (7,210), Medvedev (5,230), Djokovic (5,210) and Fritz (4,300).
