The electric cars they had in the drag race one of their most pervasive marketing tools, especially for bar discussions. Here, in fact, they have found many fans, due to the great acceleration qualities guaranteed by the on-tap propulsion. In today’s challenge there seems to be no presence of them: on the starting line, in fact, you can see a Lamborghini Aventador SV, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Volkswagen Beetle.
The latter, however, is not only profoundly revised in terms of aesthetics, with a large presence of racing appendages. Under the familiar features of its bodywork, in fact, there is a propulsion system Tesla instead of the standard endothermic heart. Having made this clarification, it is clear why its presence is not out of place in today’s drag racing. Indeed, the risk is that it could represent an unhappy surprise for the two supercar with which it compares.
Let’s say that the Volkswagen Beetle the protagonist of the match is one of the craziest electric cars ever seen to date. Specifically, it is one Bug Zappa. The shape is that of a classic Beetle, but power is provided by a pair of Tesla motors, which together produce 800 HP and 930 Nm, on a weight of 1,300 kg. The all-wheel drive, made efficient by a propulsion unit on each axle, facilitates grip, further improving the ability to sprint from a standstill.
Next to her, on the starting line of the drag race, is the aforementioned Lamborghini Aventador SVpowered by a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 heart, which can deliver 750 HP of power and 690 Nm of torque, weighing 1,775 kg. A lot of energy reaches the ground effectively, thanks to the guaranteed grip of the four driving wheels. The gearbox is 7-speed.
The circle closes Porsche 911 GT3 RSpowered by a 4-litre naturally aspirated 6-cylinder boxer engine, which develops a maximum power of 525 HP, with a peak torque of 465 Nm, and a weight of 1,450 kg. This dynamic force is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. On paper, the underdogs would go to the unusual Beetle, but Porsche and Lamborghini are certainly not available to play the role of simple extras. So how did drag racing end? There is only one way to find out: watch the video.
