GROSSETO. «If you don’t like waiting, change doctors». This is the answer that a family doctor from Grosseto gave in his clinic to an elderly patient, after he, together with his son, asked several times how long we had to wait for the visit.
An answer he did make the son of man go madso much so that some of those present are had to intervene to prevent them from fighting.
It happened on Wednesday 30 October, around 4pm.
The Grosseto carabinieri intervened on site, called by the doctor.
The elderly man was waiting for his visit, which was about 15 minutes late, and asked the doctor several times how much longer he would have to wait, since that afternoon he already had other commitments.
The doctor responded by saying: “If you don’t want to wait, change your doctor.” An answer he did enrage the son of manwho had accompanied him.
It goes from there a discussion arosehigh-pitched. «Shame on you for having responded like that to an elder» said the son, visibly upset. The two continued to argue until they came face to facerisking getting hit.
All under him disconcerted eyes of those present who didn’t know what to do.
The doctor was late due to a previous visit. The visit took a long time and slowed down the doctor’s schedule. This is a situation that can occur since family doctors must follow up many patients in few. And sometimes the previous visit can be prolonged for various reasons.
Fortunately other patients have calmed the situationtaking the man’s son outside the clinics.
The doctor also had a slight illness. The Grosseto carabinieri intervened on site, called by the doctor himself. To date, Saturday 2 November, neither the doctor nor the patient’s son have filed a complaint.
