Mother suffered accident during floods, valedictorian asked for help on Facebook

On January 11, female student Le Ngoc Tram Tram posted on her personal Facebook page about a difficult family situation in which her mother had an accident and had to be hospitalized.

My mother had two broken pelvic bones, a dislocated pelvis, three broken ribs, and a pleural effusion. Her mother was taken to the emergency room of Le Toui Regional General Hospital and later transferred to the Medical and Pharmaceutical Hospital for treatment.

My parents are both farmers and have four children, three of whom are currently attending university, the last of whom is in grade 11. My family is struggling, but the hospital and treatment costs are enormous. The four-story house where schoolgirl Le Ngoc Tram’s family lives is located in the lowlands of An Thuy village.

Tram said his mother is his primary worker because his father suffers from a spinal condition. He helps his wife sell breakfast in front of the kindergarten every day, and his income is just enough to send his children to school. Tram’s older sister is currently a third-year student at Duy Tan University (Nẵng) and has been earning money to pay for her own living and study expenses for a long time.

Tram said her mother is expected to undergo surgery within a few days. So far, Tram has received about 30,000 VND from many people who wrote and then sent and shared her confession on Facebook, in addition to the support and help from lecturers and students at the University of Education-Hue University. Some relatives and neighbors in the countryside also lent money to Tram’s family to pay for Mrs. Tram’s treatment.
