Moscow. The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported that he discussed energy and military-technical cooperation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the Russian city of Kazan.
In an interview with journalist Pável Zarubin, Maduro indicated that, on the sidelines of the BRICS group summit in Kazan, he discussed with Putin the efforts to comprehensively develop bilateral cooperation, including in the energy and military-technical spheres.
He also described the United States sanctions against Venezuela and Russia as being a legacy of the previous world.
In his opinion, Western countries seek to dominate, manipulate freedom, use the dollar as a tool and impede the progress of the world.
The meeting between Putin and Maduro took place on October 23.
On January 1, Russia assumed the rotating presidency of the BRICS for 2024, a year that began with the admission of new members.
The bloc, initially composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, was extended with the entry of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Iran on January 1, 2024.
In this way, the group currently represents almost half of the world’s population, 40 percent of global oil production and around 25 percent of the export of goods.
The BRICS summit was held from October 22 to 24 in Kazan.
