Borussia Dortmund hosts RB Leipzig today. BVB coach Nuri Sahin has a long list of injuries to complain about. SPORT1 explains where you can watch the game on TV, live stream and live ticker.
Borussia Dortmund face a difficult task when they face RB Leipzig at Signal Iduna Park this evening. The latest balance sheet doesn’t exactly speak for BVB: in the last seven competitive games against Leipzig, Dortmund have only been able to win once, and that was in the Bundesliga home game of the 2022/23 season with a narrow 2-1 win.

Dortmund had previously remained unbeaten in eight competitive duels against Leipzig, but Leipzig’s dominance in the last few matches shows that the guests are serious opponents.

Eight U23 players in the BVB squad
At BVB, the injury crisis is getting worse and coach Nuri Sahin is gradually running out of options.
Since Waldemar Anton – as feared – is not in the squad, there is only one real professional, Donyell Malen, on the bench, plus eight players from the U23 squad.

Emre Can moves into central defense – as he did against VfL Wolfsburg in the DFB Cup. With Marcel Sabitzer, however, a star returns to the starting line-up compared to the cup exit. Malen rotates to the bench for him.
Sahin doesn’t want to look for excuses
The failures are part of the truth when it comes to BVB’s crisis in results, Sahin added before the game Sky firmly. “But it’s not the only truth: it’s also a fact that many, many games are won over the bench, just like we did at the start of the season. I learned not to look for excuses.”
The head coach of the Black and Yellows does not assume that BVB will lose. “I feel the trust and we know that we all want to get involved. We knew before the season that we were in for a change.” Of course, the situation is not the best at the moment. “We didn’t see it coming, to be honest, but we accept it and I’m leading the way and I feel complete trust and that’s not something that’s just been said.”
He still enjoys the job and “if there is a game where the mood can change, then it is in our stadium today,” concluded Sahin.

Dortmund – Leipzig: The official lineups
Dortmund: Meyer – Groß, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini – Sabitzer, Brandt, Nmecha – Beier, Guirassy, Gittens
Leipzig: Gulácsi – Geertruida, Klostermann, Orbán, Henrichs – Nusa, Haidara, Vermeeren, Baumgartner – Sesko, Openda
It was previously clear that Sahin also had Karim Adeyemi (muscle injury), Julien Duranville (muscle injury), Giovanni Reyna (groin injury), Yan Couto (muscle injury), Niklas Süle (syndesmosis injury), Almugera Kabar (yellow-red suspension), Julian Ryerson (muscular problems), Kjell Wätjen (muscular problems) and Gregor Kobel (muscular problems) are without must.
For Leipzig coach Marco Rose, the game in Dortmund is a return to his old place of work. In the 2021/22 season he was on the sidelines at BVB and achieved an impressive record with 2.03 points per game. Only Thomas Tuchel and Lucien Favre were more successful with Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Under Rose, Leipzig has so far won four times against BVB, with more wins only against SC Freiburg. This encounter promises to be interesting not only from a sporting point of view, but also from an emotional point of view.
