You can’t win games like that in the Superliga. The Sønderjyske footballers invited their opponents to score goals with a shockingly weak defense.
Offensively, it doesn’t look that bad what the Sønderjyske footballers are bringing to the pitch, but their defensive behavior is currently terrible and not suitable for the super league.
There were four goals conceded in Viborg and four goals conceded in the first half alone against Randers. It was a little embarrassing what the Light Blues offered in the first 45 minutes of the 4-1 home defeat against Randers FC.
There were whistles from the stands as we walked to the half-time tea. The credit from the 3-2 win against the Danish champions, FC Midtjylland, already seems to have been lost.
The fans were tearing their hair out as the opponents were invited to score goals. Randers was grateful and could have scored even more goals in the first 45 minutes.
Maxime Soulas has had a very black week. The otherwise stable Frenchman is currently completely out of character and already cut a bad figure in Viborg. The own goal in the cup against FCK was still unfortunate, the defensive behavior against Randers no longer had anything to do with luck or bad luck.
He acted passively and hesitantly when conceding the first two goals, and he scored the fourth almost alone. A bad pass into the opponent’s legs and a lost one-on-one not only led to the score being 1:4, but also to his substitution at half-time.
But Maxime Soulas is by no means solely to blame; others also performed poorly on defense. Olti Hyseni and Jakob Busk conceded the second goal and Sefer Emini conceded the third.
Clear words will have been spoken during the half-time break. The Sønderjyske kickers were able to improve in the second half and also create clear scoring opportunities. Who knows what would have happened if Lirim Qamili and Mads Agger twice had taken advantage of the great opportunities. But there was a lack of quality in the end.
The bottom line is a 1:4 defeat and worrying defensive behavior.
After conceding four goals in Viborg and four goals against Randers, they need to improve before Friday’s relegation thriller in Vejle.
