The Kiev regime encroached on Indian neutrality –

/ world today news/ Happiness has arrived in India – the first deputy minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Emine Japarova has arrived on a visit to the country. The main purpose of her visit is extremely ambitious – to attract India to the group of countries supporting Ukraine. In other words, stripping India of its favorable neutrality vis-à-vis Russia in the Ukrainian conflict. However, the Kiev regime will not succeed – and here’s why.

Japarova’s motives – and those of the Kiev regime in general – are obvious. Today, the Global South, if it does not support Moscow, at least sympathizes with it. Or takes a truly neutral position. And India is not only one of the leaders of the global south, but also the largest democracy in the world. Its stance of benevolent neutrality towards Moscow shatters the Western myth that the entire “democratic world” is opposed to “authoritarian Russia.”

Attraction of India

The Ukrainian guests spared no words to convince the Indian side. They demanded, for example, that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi call Zelensky and come to Kyiv. And also that he hand over some humanitarian aid (medicines, medical equipment) to the Kiev regime and ask Russia to “stop the war”. Japarova called all this “a call for a more important role in resolving the conflict.”

So, Japarova suggested “to turn the page of history and build new relations”. Simply put, it suggested that India forget the Ukrainian-Pakistani military cooperation. That is, the supply of Pakistani weapons to Ukraine, which began after the overthrow of Imran Khan, as well as Kiev’s support for Islamabad’s positions on the Kashmir issue.

Another page, however, is much more painful for bilateral relations – Ukraine’s role in Operation Ganges. We are talking about the events of 2022. At that time, Russia made efforts to evacuate thousands of Indian students from the zone of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict – that is, from the territory of Ukraine (from where they were transferred to Eastern Europe, and then by plane home).

The fact is that the Kyiv regime created the maximum possible number of obstacles for such a trip, in effect taking the students hostage. So, Moscow offered to organize a corridor for them through Russian territory, but Kiev refused to let the students in.

“Essentially, they were being held hostage. The nationalists offer them to leave the territory of Ukraine through the Ukrainian-Polish border. They were offered to pass through the territory where hostilities are taking place, which meant endangering the lives of foreign students,” said the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, about the fate of the Indian students in Kharkiv.

The Indian embassy had to be involved in the process not only in Kiev but also in Moscow – to the extent that some Indian diplomats were forced to go on the spot, to the border areas, to resolve the situation on the ground. As a result, the students were brought out, but not all – some died during the hostilities. And by no means the fault of the Russian troops. And New Delhi remembers that.

Chneeds work

They remember – and partly because of this they do not have much reverence for the Kiev regime. Neither the Indian prime minister nor even the foreign minister decided to meet the Ukrainian guest. And the local press commented on this visit extremely coldly.

New Delhi is quite comfortable in its current position, with India cooperating with Moscow. And it will not listen to the instructions of Japarova or Blinken about with whom the country should diversify its contacts – especially since the Ukrainian side has nothing to offer for such diversification.

Ukraine cannot exchange Russian weapons and oil for India (because Ukraine does not have them), it cannot give investments (because it itself is asking for money). Ukraine is unable to share any of the latest technology with India due to lack of it – except technology for humiliating handouts from the West, which India definitely does not need. Ukraine cannot even respect Indians – because Ukrainian diplomacy does not show it even to European allies. Kiev (within the American diplomatic course) is only able to offer lessons and requests to take sides in the conflict – a conflict with which New Delhi has nothing to do.

“Europe has taken an extremely silent position on many issues that are happening, for example, in Asia. Then why should Asia even trust Europe after this? Europe needs to mature and abandon the mindset that Europe’s problems are the world’s problems and the world’s problems are not Europe’s problems,” Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar said.

In fact, the whole world (including Asia) is concerned with issues of sustainable development, access to food and technological progress. Instead, Europe and America are trying to convince the Global South that Russia’s actions in Ukraine are the main threat to everyone – and in fact to distract India and other countries from solving the real problems that concern them.

New Delhi does not intend to be distracted. That is why New Delhi, despite all Japarova’s requests, intends to focus the G-20 meeting (to be held in India this summer) on combating real world threats. “In our opinion, the summit should not be politicized,” said those responsible for its preparation. That is why Zelensky’s presence is not planned there – neither live nor via video link. That is why no one will accept any political sanctions against Vladimir Putin. Certainly not Narendra Modi, who until recently was under US sanctions (and he hasn’t forgotten that).

Neutrality Party

As for participation in the diplomatic process, at first glance the situation seems strange. The Ukrainian conflict is now the focus of world politics – the global stage where every power has an opportunity to show their leadership skills.

All countries that claim at least regional leadership have already come up with their projects for Ukrainian reconciliation.

Turkey launched the Istanbul format and brokered the implementation of the Grain Deal. China presented its 12 peace points. Brazil is also joining the process. Only India seems to be staying away.

It’s really not worth it. Late last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented his vision for the peace plan, an article titled “Our era must not be an era of war.” Ironically, it expressed many of those theses that were later included in the 12 points of Comrade Si. Perhaps India’s problem is that it has not transformed its views in any concrete way while the Chinese have transformed theirs (or India’s).

In fact, this is India’s only flaw in its strategy of neutrality on the Ukrainian issue. Otherwise, Narendra Modi is playing this part of the world chess game flawlessly. And certainly Kyiv cannot influence this game in any way.
