While the Democratic Party of Korea held an outdoor rally in downtown Seoul denouncing President Yoon Seok-yeol’s administration of state affairs, Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, “Let’s start again from here today, let’s judge the unjust and anti-people power.”
Representative Lee said this while mentioning the candlelight vigil in his speech at the ‘National Action Day to Call for Special Prosecutors to Condemn Kim Kun-hee and Yoon Seok-yeol’s Corruption in State Affairs’ held by the Democratic Party near Seoul Station on the 2nd.
Representative Lee said, “It was the people who rose up and took action at every turning point in history, from the April 19 Revolution in 1960, the May 18 People’s Uprising in 1980, the June Uprising in 1987, and the Candlelight Revolution in 2016,” adding, “The darkness driven out by candlelight is even greater. “We returned in complete darkness, but we will prove once again that darkness cannot overcome light,” he said.
Representative Lee criticized, “Article 1 of the Constitution, which states that the Republic of Korea is a democratic republic, is being trampled on,” adding, “Instead of a president elected by the people, the government is being ruled by irresponsible people, and irrationality, unintelligence, and witchcraft are shaking the government.” .
Also, “Remember the winter of 2016. “I thought that the manipulation of state affairs would disappear forever when I brought the corrupt power to its knees with a delicate candle,” he said. “Unsurprisingly, all my dreams were shattered in less than three years when I was faced with the worst regime.”
He continued, “Eight long years have passed, but I am devastated because it feels like I have finally come round and returned to the same place.” He continued, “The government and the ruling party looked down on the people, enjoyed power, and were absorbed in political strife. “This regime is a criminal regime that habitually breaks the law,” he criticized.
At the same time, he urged President Yoon to “immediately accept the Kim Kun-hee Special Prosecutor Act and the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act, which are the overwhelming sovereign will of the people.”
