Research by YouGov and N26 bank (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) – Milan, 02 Nov – Italians are the most inclined to save in Europe, but only 1 in 3 currently has the necessary financial resources to do so.
This is what emerges from a survey conducted by the digital bank N26 in collaboration with YouGov, which involved 6,300 people between Italy, France, Spain, Austria and Germany.
Investigating the choices in the monthly distribution of one’s budget, it emerged that 84% of Italian interviewees allocate the most significant part to ordinary expenses (such as rent or mortgage, bills and food). However, 63% then immediately think about saving, compared to an average of 57% recorded in the rest of the Old Continent.
Discretionary expenses, related to entertainment, travel and leisure in general are the third choice in the monthly breakdown of the Italian budget (61% of respondents). For around 60% of Austrians and Germans this is the second choice. Despite the inclination to save, the lack of resources penalizes the inhabitants of the peninsula: only 3 out of 10 Italians declare they are prepared.
financially to face an emergency.
