The Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the Colorado Rapids 4-1 to be the first team to qualify for the semifinals in the Western Conference, on a Friday in the MLS that saw Charlotte FC’s victory on penalties against Orlando City.
The Brazilian Gabriel Pec, Joseph Paintsil and the Spanish Riqui Puig twice scored the goals of the Galaxy’s victory.
Now, the Los Angeles team awaits the winner of the series between Real Salt Lake and Minnesota United, with the ‘Loons’ leading 1-0.
The start date of the conference semifinals will be defined at the end of the first round.

With goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina as a great figure, Charlotte FC won 3-1 over Orlando City in a penalty shootout to tie their playoff series at 1.
After a match that ended goalless in regulation time, penalties allowed equality in a best-of-three series that began with a victory for Orlando City.
Charlotte dominated the match but the experienced Peruvian goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was a figure in the Florida team. Gallese, 34, stopped clear goals from Colombian Kerwin Vargas and Patrick Agyemang in the first half.
On offense, Orlando finished with just one shot on goal in the entire match.
According to the rules of the competition in the first round of playoffs, the match went to penalties.
The Uruguayan Nicolás Lodeiro, Robin Jansson and Duncan McGuire failed from the penalty spot for Orlando against Kristijan Kahlina who became the figure of the match by saving two penalties.
The series will be defined on Saturday, November 9 in Florida.
