Trailer for the “Star Wars” series “Skeleton Crew” promises retro adventures

With “Skeleton Crew” the audience is supposed to set off on new “Star Wars” adventures and feel the nostalgic fascination for an 80s classic.

A major weakness of the majority of the previous (live-action) “Star Wars” series, regardless of whether it is the highly praised “The Mandalorian”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, “The Book of Boba Fett” or “Ahsoka” is also about, the elements are far too familiar. Optics, plot, locations: it’s all been there before. Sure, that could be interpreted as complaining at a high level, after all they mostly offer fans exactly what they want to see. On the other hand, you never feel like you’ve missed something if you don’t get around to it.

With “Andor” and “The Acolyte,” those in charge at Disney and Lucasfilm tried to break out of this pattern – with success. But this year there will finally (and hopefully) be a completely new approach. Under showrunners Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) and Christopher Ford (“Robot & Frank”), “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” will be that “Goonies in Space” give, if you will. The direction of travel should be clear: a group of curious kids on a great adventure flight in a galaxy that can be incredibly dangerous, but also contains so many unexplored, breathtaking and life-changing worlds. And what that looks like is shown in the full trailer that has now been released, in which local fans in particular can hear a German music hit by Peter Schilling that has recently become popular again in the Huttese version (!):

Can one still experience a real adventure and go on a journey of discovery in a time that supposedly offers everything in terms of technical achievements and thus access to all possible worlds? That’s the big question with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. But just like the eighties cult film “The Goonies” by director Richard Donner and producer Steven Spielberg, the upcoming “Star Wars” series should also prove that adventure often and unexpectedly awaits right on your doorstep. No matter when and where you are.
