Adriano Cardoso (PP) received 2,760 votes in this year’s municipal elections

The most voted councilor in Eunápolis, Adriano Cardoso (PP), 34, was arrested red-handed last Friday (1) on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest occurred when search and seizure warrants were executed at the parliament residence.
At Adriano’s house, the police found a 9mm pistol with the number scratched off, hidden in the toilet flush of the row of the politician and his partner.
According to the Civil Police, the warrants were issued by the 13th Electoral Justice Center and are part of an investigation into electoral crimes, including vote buying, irregular transportation of voters and the use Electoral Justice services.
In addition to the councillor, three other people who are under investigation were searched at their homes. In other homes, agents seized cell phones, computers and notebooks. All items have already been submitted for forensic examination. The consultant carried out the legal studies and is available to the courts.
In the 2024 elections, Adriano received 2,760 votes, with the majority of votes in the city of Eunápolis. In a statement, the president of the City Council of the city, Jorge Maécio (Avante), spoke about what happened.
“As the president of the City Council, when I found out that the councilor was taken to the police station, I ordered the House attorney to go to the Police Station to find out the truth out. We are awaiting the conclusion of the investigation, which is still ongoing, for a detailed statement. Over time, we will tell you that there is a private lawyer with the consultant”, he said.
