1 YEAR DISQUALIFICATION FOR BRESSANONE ATHLETE

A violent beating to a ‘linesman’ (the linesman) with the stick cost 1 year and 1 month of disqualification to a hockey player of the HC Falcons Brixen Bressanone. In the Federghiaccio press release we read that in a match of the IHL Men’s National Championship (the B series of hockey) against Appiano, Nicholas Pezzetta “at minute 34.11, after a face-off made in the defense zone of the visiting team to the left of the goalkeeper , the aforementioned player, captain of the visiting team, finding himself positioned, in view of the face-off, behind a linesman, skated towards the latter and voluntarily hit him, with the intention of injuring him, with his stick, from behind, to the calf height. The linesman fell in pain on the icy track, due to the very serious foul”. “Therefore considering the existence of the case examined to be amply proven, from both a material and psychological point of view and the consequent disciplinary responsibility of Pezzetta, for whom no cause for justification is recognisable; considering the non-admissibility of generic mitigating circumstances, due to the particular gravity of the contested illicit conduct; resulting in the imposition of the disciplinary sanction of suspension from all competitive sporting activities for a period of 1 year and 1 month, starting from the date of publication of this decision”.
