(pm). Promising start to the college sports season: The 22-year-old Rosbacher swimmer Aaron Wilmes started his third year of study at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth in August and showed in the “dual meet” against Southern Methodist University ( SMU) strong performances.

The TCU team has only managed to win against the SMU swimmers twice in recent years. Due to the training achievements shown, expectations for the most recent “dual meet” in Fort Worth were high – and they were not disappointed. With a strong team performance, the competition from Dallas was beaten 168.5 to 131.5. A prestigious success for TCU.

Wilmes demonstrated his class in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard events. He had to admit defeat to Jack Forrest (MSU) in the final sprint on both routes; However, the gap to the NCAA Nationals qualifier was close. The personal best time of 9:08.39 minutes over the 1,000 yard catapulted Wilmes to third place on his university’s all-time best list.

“I’m very satisfied with the training,” says the SG Frankfurt swimmer, describing the reasons for his performance. “My head coach has increased the intensity of the units and the structure also suits me very well.” What these times are worth will be shown at the Art Adamson Invitational, the highlight in the middle of the season from November 20th to 22nd. “I definitely think we can improve again,” says Wilmes confidently.

The Wetterauer seems to have “arrived” in Fort Worth. Maybe also because he was asked by the head coach of the triathlon team to provide support as a “technical coach”. »We really enjoy this task. The women are super motivated and I think that I can give some valuable tips and corrections,” says Wilmes happily about his new, unpaid part-time job in Texas.
