Mentioning titles like ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web’ brings the worst omens regarding the content we can expect in a product from Sony and the fearsome Avi Arad. In this case the “end” of the trilogy of Marvel’s most famous symbiote, Venom, which in the Sony version has left much to be desired; He promised us that this last dance would be spectacular…

The film was the debut of Kelly Marcelscreenwriter of the two previous installments (guilty of wasting Carnage), now, behind the cameras, shows a slight improvement in terms of handling the action sequences, adopting more firmly the nineties formula of explosions and chases; This has an effect in its favor since it causes the audience to forget for a moment the supreme level of superficiality of the characters and concentrate more on the succession of visual effects that seek astonishment.
In the characters section only highlights the work of Tom Hardy that in this version of a Eddie Brockwithout Spiderman, manages to make his relationship with the Venom symbiote become one. entertaining buddy moviewith all the topics of this genre: trips to various locations, chases, a sense of friendship and sacrifice involved.
All the typical formulas are found in the treatment of relationship between Eddie and Venom; but thanks to the fact that we have had two films to strengthen this relationship, in this last dance, they reach memorable moments. For example: when Venom sings the classic ‘Space Oddity’dancing in Las Vegas and quick phrases as gags that arise in the action scenes and discussions, these factors are what really save the film.
Sony once again made a huge mistake in how it promotes a superhero film, it is not possible that in the trailer they give you practically everything that would be one of the “surprises” of the filmit is incoherent that the emotion sought in the post-credits scenesso characteristic of films based on Marvel characters; now they don’t cause anything. In the final trailer for Venom they already announced who would appear in one of the “long-awaited” scenes.
A positive factor is that there are some approaches that give rise to interesting elements of comics, such as the presence of other symbiontswhich, although they have their own adaptation, are glimpses of what they hopefully want to achieve: the apparent adaptation of ‘King in Black’, one of the most interesting arcs of the Venom universe in recent years.
Added to this is the brushstrokes of the multiverse that Marvel seeks to revive since this saga has been full of failures and doubts; but despite the superficialities of the script, there are some interesting points that I hope do not remain mere ideas and manage to connect with the Spiderverso that we so long to see.
Also highlighted is a factor that was quite dispersed in the previous installments and is the emotional aspect. At various times, especially in the dialogues between Eddie and Venoma true connection with the public is achieved. For example, during his conversation about fatherhood or his journey through New York until his farewell, the treatment of these moments manages to move the viewer.

In short, ‘Venom: the last dance’ It does not provide anything new, it has the same flaws as all other Sony-Marvel productions; but manages to entertain and, although it is nothing more than a Saturday afternoon movie to pass the time; seems to sow the idea that something bigger is to come and that, possibly, could finally be connected to the Spiderman universe. Time will tell.
