He intervened with fire against Stefanos Kasselakis from northern Greece where the SYRIZA-PS president candidate Sokratis Famellos was touring. He commented decisively on the statements of Stefanos Kasselakis, who had appeared in his television interview (Kontra TV 30.10.2024) to question that he had caused him to be censured. Sokratis Famellos, answering a relevant question during a press conference he gave at the offices of SYRIZA-PS in Alexandroupoli, pointed out the following:
“First of all I want to make something clear. The criterion for my placement and I assume many comrades and comrades has nothing to do with personal assessment or personal attitude or personal pursuit. It has to do with how SYRIZA’s case for the interests of society is progressing. Therefore, when SYRIZA is led to a shrinking and a discredit, it is obvious that the obligation of the members of the Central Committee is to position themselves in such a way as to reverse this course for the interests of society, so that it is not alone and does party Mr. Mitsotakis.
“In this development, we had many negative effects before the elections, but especially after. These phenomena have led many and many of us to file a motion to appeal to the inclusive base. The proposal that had been tabled and I personally tabled it was to go to an appeal process at the base precisely because there were serious political mistakes of the previous President.
»Unfortunately this was not accepted. The previous President provoked the censure process by placing him within the Central Committee. He demanded the censure process. Unfortunately, it is something that leaves a mark on our party, not only on the face of the previous President. We wanted to avoid this development.” Sokratis Famellos added: “And I am particularly impressed that last night in a television interview he tried to reverse reality, when there are recorded documents and the speech is made public, where he provokes the censure process.
“I think this development adds another link of unreliability. And it is obvious that, making clear political criticism, you cannot apologize for the mistakes of the previous President, nor is the party obliged to apologize for the instruments for the mistakes of the previous President, nor our space as a whole. We are obliged to give answers to society. I must say, however, that the unanswerable mistakes and the inconsistency even in the words confirm the political choice of the Central Committee regarding the censure and dismissal from the position of the President”.
