Poland has started building barriers on its border with Russia. Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk shared a photo of the construction work on the messaging service X. The picture shows excavators and a wheel loader.

– The construction of the Itäkilve has started! The first jobs near the Russian border, he writes.

This year, Poland announced a defense project called Itäkilpi. Earlier in May, Tusk said that strengthening the border would be started in order to make Poland’s border safe in peacetime and impenetrable to the enemy in wartime. Poland strengthens its borders against both Russia and Belarus.

More than two billion euros have been invested in improving border security. At the beginning of May, Tusk told the Polish media that when it comes to Poland’s security, there are no obstacles to funding.
